America’s Army 3 to be released soon

My first encounter with the game America’s Army was at PAX (Penny Arcade Expo) in Seattle in 2007, and the game drew a surprisingly large crowd. It was one of those booths where there is curtained off area, and you had to wait to see what was inside. Of course that only builds the anticipation, and there were uniformed Army officers around to answer my questions.
At first, I thought that the video game was nothing more than a way for the Army to recruit, but something tells me it takes more than a video game to suck gamers into real military life. Still, America’s Army is quite a phenomenon, as it is a free action game that many users have found themselves addicted to.
America’s Army has released a new version with America’s Army 3, which will include new features and missions to highlight technologies being incorporated in today’s Army.
In case you are not familiar with the gameplay of the first two versions of America’s Army, it is a typical combat game that uses the Unreal Engine 3, and players go through specific training missions. This is different from most MMO games because it incorporates the seven Army Core Values and players are bound to play by the official ROE (Rules of Engagement).
America’s Army 3 (AA3) should be released sometime in 2009, but that is all the information that the America’s Army site has. It is continually being updated and is available at the AA3 site.
