mindflex 610x376 440x271 Mindflex turns you into a junior X manMattel, who has given us many offerings of Barbie and Hot Wheels over the years, has created the Mindflex, a toy that can harness the power of your mind. Well, part of your mind, at least.

The Mindflex toy has a small ball that can be levitated with the power of blown air, like that old trick with a ping-pong ball and a hair dryer. The user wears some odd type of headphones with earlobe clips that allow the user to control the height of the ball. There is no mutant activity going with this technology, but these high-tech earmuffs can read the theta-wave activity of your brain, which is the part related to concentration.

I saw this toy on display at CES, but there was such a line to it that I didn’t get a chance to try it out for myself. Apparently, the user concentrates on anything, and he or she can adjust the height of the ball, but that is about it.

As for the horizontal movement, that is all accomplished with the dial that you see in front of the toy itself. The challenge is using your thought and action to manipulate the ball around the obstacle course with its tubes and hoops.

If you want to try this for yourself, you will have to wait a while, as the Mindflex will be available in the Fall of this year, for a price of about $80.
