The Future of Online Ads

Considering the profits that most websites can make from online ads alone, it would be good for a web designer to know how the future of online advertising will affect site design.
First, online ads that do not fit in with the content of the site will not be tolerated in the future. Have you ever set up a site and allowed Adsense full reign of those sidebar and header ads? There are times when you might have checked to see what Adsense had done, only to find that the ads are completely unrelated to the subject matter. Soon, any site that is about technology will not have any non-technological ads on the header and sidebar.
Second, the colors and styles of most online ads do not match the general look of the site itself. There will come a time when the ads will automatically fit into the basic design of the website.
The third factor will be basic ad formatting. After all, the header is one of the highest price ads on a pay-per-click measuring scale. However, most sites use only one ad on that precious header. Many more sites will split up the header and present multiple ads.
So the future of online ads is threefold: Content-related ads, ads that fit into the website, and the last is breaking out of the box when it comes to formatting. Considering how busy a lot of sites are with their online ads, it will be refreshing to see websites that are in harmony with their content and their ads.

I own a number of different sites on which I have places Adsense ads. I have never had any problems with irelevant ads.
As long as you properly use your meta tags then you should be ok with Google Adsense ads. You could however have a very specific niche site where there are no relevant advertisers for the niche in question.
