esurance Top 5 Auto Insurance WebsitesYears ago you would have to call your insurance agency and spend hours talking with several different tellers that would give you the same monotonous tone of voice (the ‘I hate my job and your needs are less important to me than the dirt under my nails’ voice). Now that we’re doing everything online these days, dealing with auto insurance doesn’t have to be such a tedious chore (at least not as much).

I’ve assembled a list of what I believe are the top 5 auto insurance websites. I’ve gone through the insurance websites and compiled my personal experience with users reviews from around the web.

Top 5 Auto Insurance Websites

1. Progressive

Progressive.com welcomes you a with style that efficiently brings you everything you’re going to need. You can quote and compare your quote with other insurance providers. There is also a quote comparison ticker that updates every few seconds to the most recent completed quotes, giving you an overall idea of what to expect. The quotes you get at progressive.com are very comprehensive, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more quality online quote from the other companies. You can also purchase and print your documents directly from the site, something that not all the other sites offer. The customer support is available 24/7 on the site and from what I can tell they are very friendly. Progressive’s website has received top honors from Keynote Systems in 15 of their last 16 auto insurance website scorecards.

2. GEICO

GEICO offers a simple-looking website that hides a wealth of features for you to explore. You can go to the site and get a price quote right away, but unlike Progressive you will not have access to side-by-side comparisons with other insurance companies. The customer support is friendly and was very responsive to any questions I sent to them through email. There are a ton of plan options to browse through so you can find what fits your needs and the website is accessible through your mobile device. GEICO.com offers so many option that I had to give it the number two spot. You have access to your entire account and can fiddle with whatever you want.

3. esurance

esurance has a great website for those who are insuring their first car or are just not familiar with auto insurance in general. Just like the slogan says, you can Quote. Buy. Print. and it’s as easy as that. You get your quote and select the plan you want and you can print your insurance card on the spot. The website has a “counselor” and a learning center that guide you through all the aspects of insurance coverage and inform you on just about anything you need to know. Customer support is 24/7 and the website is incredibly easy to use.

4. Insurance

Insurance.com is sort of a blend of the websites we’ve gone through so far. The website is simple to use and has a learning center, but the information isn’t presented as fluidly as you would find at esurance. You can get a quote fast and compare it to other auto insurance companies after filling out an application. The customer support is top notch. You can reach help through live chat, email, or phone. The website also gives you local agent contact information so you can get some more personal help from a nearby associate. The website is a quick load and will get you in and out pretty fast.

5. Allstate

Allstate is the place to go if you’re purely interested in information and options. There is so much information about everything that it slows down the loading time of some of the pages. If you’re an insurance pro who still wants to know more than you should about your insurance, the Allstate website will give you what you want. You’ll also encounter a long list of options and features that help you tailor your coverage plan to fit your specific needs. The Ballpark Insurance Estimator is a great little addition that will give you an idea of what your quote will be before you apply for the real thing.
