Duke Nukem Forever: The Legend Continues

I’m sure everyone knows the legend of Duke Nukem Forever, which is considered to be the greatest game never made. For those that don’t, DNF was first announced way back in 1997, back when games like Quake and Riven ruled the world.

The game has suffered more delays than Tom Cruise’s last movie, and most of them are the result of them changing game engines. DNF has since won Wired’s Vaporware awards for almost eight years in a row.

Apparently, some new screenshots have been leaked. Not that this is any surprise, because screenshots from DNF have been leaked since the last decade, and this one is almost over.

This is one of those times when I really have to admit that I really don’t know anything about how games are made. I know that it takes years to develop a video game, but is twelve years normal?

So what’s it going to be? Am I going to have to explain to my children about the Duke Nukem Forever legend going on forever? Perhaps I should explain first who Duke Nukem was, and how he changed video games back in the early nineties. Perhaps this is how we should best remember Duke, as someone who touched our hearts for a time, and wasn’t completely ruined by a worn-out franchise.
