Please tell me which of the two that is is Xhtml or Javascript which is a better scripting language and which is easier to learn.

You're better off learning XHTML, Javascript is a wee bit taboo due to a handful of security holes. It's possible to bypass a lot of security measures, like the Windows XP checker thing, by disabling Javascript.

I agree with Dartz start with XHTML then once you are comfortable with that you can start to explore Javascript and see which works best for you.

One thing that Tom enlightened me to today, Javascript can be used to circumvent various issues with certain browsers, like how some idiot as Microsoft forgot to enable alpha channels on IE.

The script Dartz is refering to manipulates IE's DOM basicly teaching it how to cope with png alpha channels.

I think it's better if you learn XHTML first. Once you get familiar with the whole concept, you can start to learn javascript. Afterall, for some particular reason, some people just not fit with javascript. Choose what the best for you.

Xhtml is a markup language, and JS is a scripting language, so if you are looking to create web applications, you will need to learn xhtml first anyway. Xhtml is alot easier to learn anyway, it will only take around a week to become xhtml savvy.
