Jon Peddie research has just capped off a five year study of the sales, profits and strength of the PC gaming hardware market. According to the research firm, which specializes in graphics and multimedia studies, the PC gaming industry is looking stronger than the console gaming industry, despite the current recession. Over at Macworld they’ve taken the study at face value, but some might find it a bit hard to take seriously. It is widely advertised that the videogame industry seems to be recession-proof.... About four months after CES, the Las Vegas Convention Center packs in more tech goodness with CTIA Wireless. It is a chance for all the big names in the mobile phone industry to put their best phones forward, and here is the newest crop. I have listed them alphabetically in order of companies first, and then the model itself. Most of them did not have a price, but there are links to other sources with the prices. If you are in the market to buy this summer, this should give you an idea of what... Read More

It’s been said about Julia Allison… “She can’t act. She can’t sing. She’s not rich. But thanks to a genius for self-promotion, she’s become an Internet celebrity.” Ms. Allison has learned the art of personal branding and specializes in distinguishing herself from the pack with a joie de vivre and an innate sense of knowing what to leverage when? Marketing may be a dated term in this Web 2.0 world we live in…a hackneyed meme attributed to the billboard... Read More

Apparently, the new Ghostbusters video game isn’t enough ghosts for gamers, as Swedish developer A Different Game announced a new kind of ghost game with Ghostwire. The game is an augmented reality game designed for the Nintendo DSi. For those of you who are not familiar with augmented reality, you should know this: do not use the terms augmented reality and virtual reality interchangeably. According to Search CIO, Virtual reality is an artificial environment that is created with software... Read More
Is The Attention Economy The New Currency?

Remember the political refrain “it’s the economy, stupid!” first uttered in the 90′s and probably more applicable today then it was then? Well, while we are all wringing our hands trying to survive the financial ills that have blanketed our land, there is another economy sapping up just as much of our energy as the monetary one. And I’m not talking about the Information Economy. By definition, economics is the study of how a society uses its scarce resources. And information... Read More
Tony Hawk: Ride and the Video Game Peripheral Revolution

In case you haven’t heard, Tony Hawk is releasing yet another video game based on his extreme skateboarding franchise. I’ve played a few of them, and found them very much the same. This new one, simply known as Ride, comes with a very unique accessory. The board peripheral is motion-controlled, which would make it a more advanced version of the WiiFit Balance board. There may not be any wheels on this board, but the player can manipulate it as if it was a real skateboard. More advanced... Read More
FacePad lets you download Facebook Albums with a click of a button
I have been a regular member of social media networks such as MySpace, Orkut and more. I always knew about Facebook and I had a lot of friends who were using it, and they recommended that I join. I did join, but never used it. It’s probably because I find it hard to switch from one platform to another. When I left my job and started blogging full time, I actually got the time to explore and learn more about Facebook and today, I’m more than happy to be a part of it. I can definitely... Read More

Perhaps you have been thinking about purchasing one of those e-book readers that so many people are purchasing these days. Instead of just following the crowd, you should probably study the competitors. Amazon Kindle: Clearly Mr. Bezos intended the prior version to be a milestone in the e-book reader industry, and thanks to a multi-media marketing campaign, it is. (It doesn’t hurt to be the World’s Largest Bookstore.) Features (Original): Connects to 3G network for content (no hotspot... Read More

Marina Orlova with co-host Gorby (short for Gorbachev) For the naysayers who don’t believe the Internet can produce celebrity-status, I initially anticipated only doing a two-part series on the Internet Famous. However after the attention that surfaced from my “Nick Thune” and “Top Ten Internet SuperStars of 2009,” features, I slowly realized that the Internet is a virtual breeding ground for building (if not full-blown celebrity) then at least… micro-celeb status....
